Yesterday, we released the improved feature of sharing ZoomIn maps, which allows users to embed maps on their websites, also enable users to customize the width and height of the iframe.

Here is an example, I’m using ZoomIn map to show the location of ProjectX

We’ve added a couple of cool features to zoomin.co.nz:

Private Places – now you can set a place that you created to be private, which means that only you will be able to see it.
Or you can set the place to be visible only to a certain group.

To do this, go to a place that you have created (or create a new place), and look on the right hand side of the page. You can alter the privacy settings under the ‘Privacy Settings’ heading.

Video Embedding – now you can embed Youtube and Google Video videos in your comments and place descriptions.

To insert a youtube video:

 • find the video in youtube
 • copy the URL of the page, it should be something like

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=46LQd9dXFRU

 • paste it into your comment text, between some youtube square brackets, like this:

You can do the same thing with google videos, by adding something like this to your comments:

[google]http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=4147604860974111184[/google]

You can see an example of an embedded video at http://zoomin.co.nz/nz/wellington/rongotai/-wellington+airport/

I like to argue, discuss and generally mull over a variety of subjects. That’s why we added group discussions to ZoomIn.

To see what discussions are available go to any group page and look under “Discussions” heading. If there aren’t any and you have something to say then you can start a new discussion by clicking on “Start a new discussion” link in the Actions section.

If other people have already started discussions then you will see them all nicely laid out in a table. Just follow the links.

Happy discussing.

I forget things all the time so it was important to have some way of not having to remember all the good places on the map yet be able to access them without having to search for them again.

So we added favourites. Once you find a place you like and want to keep for future reference simply click on “Add to favourites” button located in the tool bar just above the map.

To access all your favourite palces click on the “Favourites” link which will show up next to your sign-in status at the top right of any page on ZoomIn site once you’ve signed in.

That’s it. Simple and easy to use.
